Pregnancy may delay a breast cancer diagnosis, but most studies have found that the outcome among pregnant and non-pregnant women with breast cancer is about the same if the cancers are diagnosed at the same stage. Survival after 5 and 10 years was almost identical in these 2 groups. Therefore, pregnancy and the related breast changes did not worsen the mother's chances of surviving breast cancer.
