Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Indian women — and roughly seven in ten cases are still found at an advanced stage. The science isn't the problem: when caught early, breast cancer is highly treatable, with survival rates above 90%. The gap is reach. Awareness is uneven, screening is concentrated in big-city hospitals, and many women only present once symptoms have escalated.
India Turns Pink is closing that gap with one of India's largest grassroots breast-cancer awareness movements. From Chennai outwards, ITP runs free screening camps, education drives in airports, colleges, cities and villages, and survivor-support networks — backed by CSR partnerships with Indian Oil (IOCL) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI). PinkRibbon International funds and amplifies this work so it can scale, with 85% of every dollar going directly to programmes on the ground.
Trains a Pink Volunteer to lead breast self-examination workshops and refer women to nearby ITP screening camps.
Funds a full day of free mobile screening in a village or semi-urban community — bringing early detection directly to women who would otherwise never reach a hospital.
Powers a full month of city- or village-wide ITP activity — combining a Your-City-Turns-Pink awareness drive, free screening clinics, and survivor-support follow-up.
